Research

My research interests are in the general area of communication networks. The modeling and analysis of networks, and the design of protocols and algorithms are the focus of my research. During the past few years, I have been looking at problems in the field of all-optical networking. Current and recent research interests:
  • Optical Networks
    • Analytical modeling of blocking performance
    • Optimal placement of wavelength converters
    • Design and analysis of schedules for multi-rate sessions in TDM wavelength-routing networks
    • Analysis of switch size effects in multi-fiber wavelength-routing networks
    • Survivable optical networks

  • Wireless Networks
    • Spectrum estimation for cellular networks
    • Location management in cellular networks
