PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE, DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL & COMPUTER ENGINEERING, THE GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY, WASHINGTON, D.C.

The George Washington University invites applications for a specialized, non-tenure-accruing contract faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Practice in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) to begin as early as the Fall 2018 Semester. The Department offers ABET-accredited B.S. programs in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, M.S. programs in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Telecommunications Engineering, and Ph.D. programs in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. The department has grown rapidly over the last few years, both in size and stature, and—along with the School of Engineering and Applied Science —anticipates unprecedented future growth. This is an exciting opportunity for an engaging teaching faculty with industrial experience who can make contributions to a quality program of undergraduate engineering education through applying fundamental concepts in practical project-based labs.  More information about the department is available at http://www.ece.seas.gwu.edu/.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching to ensure the success of our students.  The successful candidate will be an inspiring teacher and is expected to lead capstone design projects in ECE in concert with partners from across the University, local industry, and/or nearby government laboratories. In addition, he/she is expected to effectively teach undergraduate courses and augment them with practical hands-on project components that can leverage the new cutting-edge lab facilities.

Basic Qualifications: Applicants must have at least an MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field by the time of appointment, an ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level, and at least 10 years of practical experience (or 5 years of practical experience if having PhD). In order to guide the students in their capstone projects and teach practically-oriented course content, applicants must possess hands-on skills in one or more of the following electrical and computer engineering-related topics: embedded systems, computer organization, digital design, FPGAs, device and analog electronics, computer interfacing with various sensors and actuators, and a general awareness of the wide spectrum of concepts and other relevant technologies within an ECE environment.
