Prof. Shahrokh Ahmadi has been an exemplary educator and mentor, winning over students and peers with his complete engagement in his classes and the undergraduate student community. Having taught courses across the curriculum---freshmen orientation, sophomore-level classes and graduate courses---he is constantly thinking up new ways to improve his classes and make them more challenging. Letter after letter from students, including alumni, passionately affirms the presence and importance of Prof. Ahmadi in their lives, "honored to be able to call Prof. Ahmadi my teacher, mentor, adviser, colleague and friend" (yes, that was a student). Prof. Ahmadi has won the Bender Award; he has also won the Engineer's Council ECE Teacher of the Year Award almost every year (except for two years) since 1998-99. The committee was particularly impressed by the sustained energy and excellence of Prof. Ahmadi's efforts over the twenty years he has been with GW.
